‘Ramblings of an Episcopal Railway Enthusiast’
Speaker: Rt Revd. Michael Burrows
Join us for an engaging and lighthearted talk by the Rt Revd. Michael Burrows, a lifelong railway enthusiast and member of the Irish Railway Record Society. Drawing from his passion for railway heritage and his personal experiences, he will share fascinating anecdotes and insights, particularly about the railways of the regions he has called home.
This year is especially poignant for railway enthusiasts, as it marks the 200th anniversary of the world’s first public railway, the Stockton and Darlington in England. Ireland joined the railway era soon after, in 1834, sparking moments of both triumph and challenge. The lecture will also touch on the reconstruction of the line to Foynes, a hopeful symbol for the future of Irish railways.
Come and explore the charm, eccentricities, and history of railways through the eyes of a true enthusiast.
