This International Women’s Day, The Hunt Museum is proud to join the Art + Feminism Wikipedia campaign in collaboration with Wikimedia Community Ireland and Ardscóil Mhuiré, Corbally, Limerick. Through collective action we will uncover and publish new feminist perspectives on objects from the Hunt Museum’s collection on Wikipedia.

Art+Feminism is a global movement dedicated to making the internet a more inclusive and diverse space by representing and amplifying marginalised voices in the arts and beyond. Currently, only 18% of Wikipedia biographies are about women, but activists—including artists, students, and cultural institutions like the Hunt Museum—are working to change this.
Throughout the year, we will work closely with Ardscóil Mhuiré Transition Year students to uncover the histories and stories of overlooked women represented in the Collection. With training and support from Wikimedia Ireland, the students will publish this research as articles on Wikipedia, becoming digital activists, helping to address inequities and disenfranchisement of women on the internet.
In 2026, we also plan to mark International Women’s Day with the release of a special Art+Feminism online exhibition. In addition, Ardscóil Mhuiré Transition Year students will produce an exhibition of artwork artwork inspired by women in the Collection.
